Our sympathy and prayers go out to all the family. Coach Kesler was not only a great coach, but a great mentor, a great teacher and a great man. His booming voice could always be heard above all others urging you to perform your best, whether it be on a small country school track, Friday night on a football field, or in the Horseshoe at Ohio State. Coach knew how to get the best out of someone. This was evidenced by the number of individuals, both in Track and Field and Football who earned All-Conference, All-District and All-Ohio honors. Above all, he prepared us for our life ahead, of which I will be always grateful. An example of one of those lessons was on the phrase, "can't do that". Needless to say the lesson stuck with me all my life, thanks to a quick mentoring by Coach on a hot August day. There were many other life lessons not forgotten on family, respect, and how to win and lose graciously. Thank You Coach, for everything! Rest in Peace. You will be missed.

Coach Kesler was the consummate education professional. He was an outstanding Coach, Teacher, Mentor, Leader, and Role Model to all the young people that entered his sphere of influence. Although he was always a strict disciplinarian in the classroom, gymnasium, and on the football field, it was always apparent to me that he genuinely cared for the young people in his charge, and his primary concern was their well-being. Coach Kesler was my biology teacher, Phys Ed Instructor, and Head Football Coach. The time that I spent with Coach Kesler in the classroom, and on the football field, made a huge impact on me, and forever changed the trajectory of my life!
Approximately, five(5) years ago Pete and Coach Kesler spent some time with me reminiscing about the “good old days” . It was very special moment in my life to have the opportunity to fellowship with a man I idolized, and that I held in such high esteem! It is a memory that I will always cherish! Thank you for that memory Pete!
I have the distinct honor of being a member of the last Spencerville football team that Dick Kesler coached. Pete Kesler was one of my teammates. I also shared the hallways of SHS at various times with other members of the Kesler family- Anne & Nick.
I would like extend my deepest condolences to Pete, Anne, Nick and Coach Kesler’s entire family, and friends! I am truly very sorry for your loss!
