Obituary of Clayton Erik Chandler Young

Clayton Erik Chandler Young, 22, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 3:00PM in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Clayton will be buried in the Middleburg Memorial Cemetery in West Virginia at a later date. A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Saturday from 2:00PM until 3:00PM, one hour before the service.

Clayton was born December 9, 2000 in San Antonio, Texas to Jack Young and Joleen McCollister. He attended the Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Macon. Clayton worked with his father, as a Mechanic’s Assistant, at Emmett Head Auto Parts in Bonaire. In his free time, Clayton liked to go hunting and fishing, and he was an avid music lover. He loved all sorts of animals. Clayton was a loving son, grandson, and brother, and everyone who knew him will miss him. He was always the life of the party, and had a hug for everyone.

Clayton’s grandfathers, Ned Lowman and Tom McCollister, precede him in death.

Clayton is survived by his father, Jack Young of Georgia; mother, Joleen McCollister of Texas; his brother, Taylor Cope; his grandmothers: Mildred Marie Lowman of West Virginia and Edith McCollister of Gehrden, Germany; and a host of extended family.
