Obituary of George L. Snipes, USAF (Ret.)

In the morning hours of June 7, 2023, George L. Snipes passed away at Houston Healthcare.  He was 87 years old.  A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 11:15 AM at Parkway Memorial Gardens in the mausoleum chapel.  A visitation will be take place one hour prior at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory.  

George was born December 9, 1935 in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Mr. Teal Snipes and Mrs. Virdie Johnson Snipes.  He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Yvonne Snipes; daughter, Yvette Snipes; and infant son, Gene Lamar Snipes.  George served his country for 23 years in the United States Air Force.  After his military service he worked as a civil servant at Robins Air Force Base. 

He is survived by his wife, Patty Lee Snipes; sons, John (Lisa) Snipes and Gene Lynn Snipes; grandson, Chris (Nichole); granddaughter, Samantha (Kenny); and several great grandchildren.  

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Bonaire Church, 221 Church Street, Bonaire, GA 31005.
