Obituary of Melvin Billups

Chief Apostle Melvin Andrew Billups, 82, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021. A visitation for family and friends scheduled for Thursday, December 30 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. The service for Mr. Billups is private for family only. Burial will take place in Parkway Memorial Gardens.


Melvin was born November 12, 1939, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Samuel Thomas and Katie Bell Billups. He accepted God’s call into full-time ministry and led by the Spirit of God to travel to Clinton, North Carolina where he began his evangelical ministry and career as an artist. Apostle Billups ministers primarily in Warner Robins, Georgia; traveling as the Spirit leads to various areas of the state, nation, and foreign countries, and using these works to instruct local assemblies and congregations in the way of Christ. He founded his ministry “Watercolors of the Gospel” an outreach ministry inviting others to know Christ as their Lord and Savior by demonstrating divinely
inspired paintings. Melvin was a loving brother and uncle, and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Melvin is survived by his paternal twin, Melvina Billups of Chesapeake Virgina;
and brothers; Vernon (Arleathia) and Lawrence (Bonita) Billups of Virginia; and numerous nieces and
nephews. Adopted daughter, Velera Nelson; adopted granddaughter, Monica Wallace Cornish and a host of other relatives and friends.
