Today, on Dee’s birthday, I learned of his passing. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. I worked with Dee in the USAFE Band 1989-91 and always loved hanging out together with him. A favorite memory I carry is him incessantly asking me “hey Vince, what time it is?” After numerous requests for the time, I finally said, ‘Hey Dee, why don’t you buy a damn watch?” His reply... “Why, you always tell me what time it is.” Dee had such a great personality and it was so easy to be with him. He’s gone too soon.

Dee and I worked together in the Air Force while we were at Robins AFB. He had a kind soul and always had a smile. No circumstances would ever change that. My nickname for him was "Bubbly Dee." You'll be missed my friend.

Great brother in the Lord, brother saxophonist, and brother in The Band of the Airforce Reserve! We had wonderful experiences together and in spite of any negativity Dee had a solid inner constitution that focused on faith, family, and the true joy and love of music. We'll all temporarily miss his smile dearly but have a marvelous reunion in heaven!

I met Dee and his wife twenty-five years or so ago. We all feel in love with each other at first sight. From that moment we were brother and sisters. So many wonderful memories to remember, especially the Sunday dinners at my mother’s home. I’ll also remember Dee for that big boyish smile and grin he had; not to mention that New Orleans accent - LOL ! He certainly had a personality as big as life. He will be missed by all who had the awesome pleasure to have known him and was a part of his life rather big or small. Take your rest my dear brother - we love you. P.s. I can only imagine the big hug Mother Lester gave you when you entered those pearly gates.

Dee was one of my first mentors when I joined the Band of the USAF Reserve at Robins AFB. I would not be the where I am as an Airmen and person without him. My condolences to his family. Rest well sir. Till we meet again...

I loved working with Dee at Robins for a multitude of reasons, one of which was that he never got “wrapped around the axle” about stuff, no matter how urgently something needed to get done! He was a good man!

I have many good memories from my time serving in the Band of the Air Force Reserve in Warner Robins, Georgia. So many of those memories include Dee Lyles. I worked for him in our supply section and played with him in multiple musical ensembles. A great guy with a wealth of experience and a fine musician. Deepest condolences to his family. RIP Dee.

Dee and family have been my neighbor for several years. Dee was a great neighbor. Very friendly and always helpful. We had some long and thoughtful conversations. I will really miss him. God bless him and his wife. Give her strength as she lays to rest her 40 year partner.

I especially liked to hang out with Dee because we were both from Louisiana, and loved to talk about New Orleans music and food with him on our many TDY's. He was the sweetest person you could meet and was always genuinely happy to see you. If God prepares a good place for good people after they pass, I'm sure he's there now.

Dee and I had some great heart-to-heart conversations about serious and not-so-serious matters. When I arrived at Robins he made me feel welcomed and we became friends. He always had a smile on his face and I learned a lot about the Air Force from my association with him. Although he is in a better place, he is (and will be) missed by many of those who spent time with him. Rest In Peace my good friend.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Dee was an important part of my early AF career...my deepest condolences to his family.
