Steve was the rock that holds the family together. Always present. Always listening, watching. He would back you up or help fix the problem. LOVED his work. I remember a story of him travelling to Germany and striking up conversations with politzei. Brave in my book cause I am far too reserved to simply jump with both feet like that into conversation with strangers much less because of the language barrier! Love IN the moment kinda guy. LOVED his family! Y'all be was a keeper! Treasure your memories of him and strive to add his strength you admire to your everyday life. Great to know you Sir!

Praying for Aunt Dot and their family. I will always remember riding with Uncle Steve as a student worker with the Mercer Police. He always had a story to tell! Beth and I also always appreciated him checking on us and our apartment when he was on duty.

I worked at Mercer University with Steve for many years, and remember him as being nice to everyone. I'll never forget him, and I pray his family finds comfort in believing that he is now in Heaven. Due to my health, I'm not able to attend the service for him, but I certainly would be there if I could go. Love Barney Watts.

I am grateful to have known and loved Steve as true family does! Dot & Steve (and the gang) knew (I sure hope they did) they are family and an invitation or open door was always there from the Woodard family! Steve fit right in like a piece of the puzzle. If my mama and daddy loved you then you had to be pretty well top notch..well, Steve was "labeled" top notch!! He is, was and always will be a good & dedicated man that I am so proud to be able to Thank our Lord for bringing him into the fold that we call "Family"! Praying for you all. Dot, I love you and my heart aches for you. I pray you will find peace and comfort in knowing this isn't Goodbye, its see ya later! When Daddy (wayne) and Steve met up in Glory I sure hope he was ready to have his ear bent. Daddy had to be saying.." Whew, its about time somebody with some sense came because Genelle is on a roll!" Steve will be greatly missed by many!!

The 202nd radio shop had a truck with a enclosed body on the back of it parked out behind the main building of the unit. Steve would refer to it as the "War Wagon"..... On drill weekends, we were always installing some comm or radio equipment into it to make it an asset to deploy and setup in the event of a state emergency. I remember riding out US 49 / 41 between Macon, Byron and Reynolds in it to go setup the HF radio and attempt to make communications with another amateur operator... Fun time

Steve was my mentor. He instilled in me a love of electronics and radios. I was a young troop that had no sense of direction and what I wanted to do with my career and such. Because of him, I was able to get the radio fulltime job at the 165th AW in the Comm Section. I retired from there after another 26 yrs beyond the 202nd days... I now work for Chatham Co. as the public safety radio tech for County Police and 911.

My prayers are with the family
I worked with Bibb EMA and Steve was always helping with our old equipment I considered him a personal friend during that time. He was a example of what a Man should be.

I was so proud of my big brother Steve! He was a role model for me and my entire family. He was ALWAYS there for me when I needed him. I love and miss him terribly; however, I know I will see him again.
