Obituary of Jay B. Locke

Warner Robins, GA; Mr. Jay B. Locke, 74, passed away at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry, GA, Friday, June 12, 2009. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 with Reverend David Brighton officiating. Interment will be in Parkway Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, June 15, 2009 at the funeral home. Mr. Locke was the son of the late Reverend and Mrs. Howard Burdette Brookens Locke. He was married to the former Barbara Bacon Locke. Jay was a retired civil service employee as well as the United States Air Force. While Jay was stationed at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska he was awarded the Airman’s Medal for Heroism. Mr. Locke was a longtime member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Warner Robins, GA. Jay was a member of Labors for Christ built and renovated Lutheran churches and schools in Spencer, IA, Lakeville, MN, Breman, IN, Ponca City, OK, and Statesville, NC, Woodbury, MN, Humboldt, IA and Ottertail, MN. Mr. Locke is survived by his wife Barbara E. Locke, Sons; Daniel J. Penny Locke, David A. Theresa Locke, of Warner Robins, GA; Daughter Donna M. Harry Hinsey of Monroe, GA; Sisters Joyce and Reverend Charles Nichols, of Anoka, MN; Jennifer and Vern Cornelius, of Geneva, MN; Six Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
