Obituary of Bernard Gay

Warner Robins, GA: Bernard Gay, 91, Ret. M/Sgt, USAF, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 18th, in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be private. A rosary will be said at 7:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home with visitation to follow until 9PM. Mr. Gay was born in Meridian, MS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Dease Gay. Serving in the United States Air Force for 30 years, he flew for over 20 years as a crew member of the B-17, B-24 and B-52 planes. Retiring in 1972 he was a veteran of WWII, and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Cooper, daughter and son-in-law, Helen & Guy Starling, grandchildren Theresa Williams and husband Chip, Kim Hutchison, Andy Cooper and Jessica Short all of Warner Robins, and Kip DeKalb and wife Cheryl of Lakeland, FL. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund @ 300 S. Davis Dr., Warner Robins, GA, 31088 or to the Warner Robins Humane Society @ P.O. Box 7363, Warner Robins, GA, 31095, in memory of Mr. Gay. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
