Obituary of William Finley Russell

Warner Robins, GA: William F. â??Billâ?쳌 Russell, passed away on July 5, 2008, in a local hospital after a long illness. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with visitation to follow the services until 9:00 PM. A private family graveside service will follow in Concord, TN. Mr. Russell was born in Jearoldstown, TN to the late William Finley Russell and Anna Reese Russell. He was the last of several brothers and sisters. Mr. Russell graduated from Farragut High School in Concord, TN and was one of the school’s star basketball players. He attended Tusculum College in Greenville, TN prior to entering military service where he spent 30 years in the Air Force and five years in civil service. One of his memorable experiences was serving on a supply ship in the Pacific during World War II as the ships radio operator. He was a former member of Concord Methodist Church and attended the Protestant Air Force Chapels as long as his health permitted. After his retirement, his second career was real estate and he was co-owner of Century 21 Homes & Investments. The Warner Robins Noon Day Lions Club was a great enjoyment and he was a member for many years serving several different offices. Survivors include his wife Ruth Fuller Russell, daughter, Rebecca Russell Bangert Pat, son, W. Randall Russell Amy, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and the pet cat, â??Charlieâ?쳌. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Home @ P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA, 30281 or to the Heart of Hospice @ 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA, 31088 or to the Warner Robins Noon Day Lions Club @ P.O. Box 614, Warner Robins, GA, 31093. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
