Obituary of Oscar W. Smith

Byron: Oscar W. Smith Jr., 84, died Monday January 23, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Revs. Lee Warren and Rick Odom will officiate. Mr. Smith, a native of Johnson County, was the son of the late Oscar and Eunice Lewis Smith. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and a former Mason. Retired from civilian service at RAFB after 33 years of service and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Survivors include his wife Nell Fountain Smith of Byron. Children: Johnny E. Smith of Powersville, GA, Tommy W. Smith, Alice Hardison both of Byron, Mickey Smith of Bonaire. Siblings: Ralph Smith and Lennis Smith both of Dublin. Grandchildren: Chris Smith, Troy Smith, Bobby Smith, Wes Smith, Ash Smith, Michelle Smith, Shelli Blasingame, Scotty Hardison, Scott Marney and Eric Marney. Seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family may be contacted at 1006 Lucia Dr., Byron, GA. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
