Obituary of Charles H. Worthey

Charles Worthey, born February 8, 1928 in Anniston, Alabama, died Sunday, June 5 2005. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley Hills Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Rev. Andy Cook, Dr. Napp N. Granade and Rev. Sydney Odom will officiate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Furman & Irma Worthey and a brother, Rayton Worthey. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, AL. He was a veteran of The Korean War. He retired as Chief of Budget after serving 33 years at Robins Air Force Base. He was a charter member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church where he served in many capacities, including Chairman of the Finance Committee and Chairman of Deacons for many years. He served many years as a Deacon and as a Sunday School Teacher for over 54 years. He is survived by his wife, Frances Morris Worthey, a daughter Dawn W. Ben Elliott, of Canton, son, C. Mark Lissa S. Worthey, and three grandchildren, Kate, Emily Claire and Hampton Worthey of Thomasville. Sisters-in-law, Jackie Morris and Helene S. Worthey both of Anniston, AL. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial Gifts may be made to Shirley Hills Baptist Church Building Fund 615 Corder Rd. Warner Robins, GA 31088. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
