Obituary of Emogene Singleton Camper

Byron, Georgia- Emogene Singleton Camper, 84, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. A private family service will be scheduled at a later date  in the Lumpkin United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Emogene was born April 24, 1938 in Lumpkin, Georgia to the late Russell and Emma Singleton. She retired from the Department of Defense after working for almost 40 years. Mrs. Camper was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Lumpkin and the Columbus chapter of the Red Hat Society. She was a volunteer for The Medical Center Gift Shop in Columbus, Georgia. Emogene enjoyed various types of crafts, including cross stitch and plastic canvas. She enjoyed traveling.  However, she really loved making her yard and flower gardens beautiful and immaculate.  Emogene was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, and everyone who knew her will miss her.

In addition to her parents, Emogene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Dewey Camper, and brother, Pat Singleton. 

Emogene is survived by her two daughters: Rachel (Dusty) Mosness of Byron and Cindy (Clemens) Meyers of Marshallville; grandchildren: Dillon (Ansley) Pate, Samantha (Nathan) Hedgecoke, and Brooke Meyers, Julie Meyers, Vincent (Vancessa) Meyers, Victoria (Chad) Porterfield, and her very dear friend, Wanda Pope, whom she loved traveling with; and close friends, Betty Nicholson, Cassie Unwin, Cheryl Raines, and many others.
