Obituary of Richard Andrew Ward, IV

Richard Andrew Ward IV, 69, went to be with his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 2, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 3:00 PM with Nancy Cater officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow at Parkway Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one hour prior at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Thursday, October 6, 2022. 

Richard was born on April 12, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Richard Andrew Ward III and Zelma Browning Kerr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Sherlene Ward, and Kent Ward. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  Richard worked for Cheney Brothers as a transporter. When he was not working, you could find Richard watching and cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoyed being surrounded by his loving family and spending time casting a fishing line. Most importantly Richard took great pride in his beloved grandchildren that renamed him to his favorite name, Papa.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Donna Tucker Ward; children, Heather Ward, Brandi (Greg) Ward, Dustin (Niki) Ward, Traci (Zavier) Askew, Misty Ward, and Richard Andrew (Jennifer) Ward; grandchildren, Jordan, Kamryn, Braxton, Maci, Malia, Elijah, Tanya, Isaiah, Kaitlin, Tristan, Kayla, Keaira, Ryleigh, Jesse; siblings, Hazel Todd (Frank), Ellen (Pat) Armstrong, Robert (Meleia) Kerr, Andrea Jane Overstreet and Reva Cotes, ; and a host of extended friends and family.
