Obituary of Jean Evans Carter James

Jean Evans Carter James, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 3, 2022. A private Graveside for family and friends will be held at Parkway Memorial Gardens on Monday, May 9th, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Stephen Waller officiating. The friends of the family are welcomed to come by Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Friday, May 6th, 2022 between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM or Saturday, May 7th, 2022 between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.

 

Jean was born in Winfield, AL on July 31, 1929 to the late Alberta Franks Evans (1982) and Luther Evans (1994). In addition to her parents awaiting at the gates of Heaven, is her beloved first husband, Cordie B.A. Carter and her beloved second husband, Malcolm Wallace James; siblings, Maria Cheshire, Grace McCullough, Joy Ludwig, and Ellis Evans. Jean and Cordie B. meet in Winfield, AL, and got married on November 15, 1946. They then moved to Mobile, AL where they started their family. In February of 1966, they moved to Warner Robins, GA where they would plant their roots. After Mr. Cordie B passed in 1997, Jean met Malcom and several years later they united in marriage on February 26, 2001.

 

Jean, better known as "Mamaw", loved and supported her family. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend to many. Jean took great pride in her family, and surrounded herself with their photos and lovely hand drawn cards and pictures. She would enjoy cooking family meals and making her families favorite dessert, Five Flavored Pound Cake.

In addition to her family, Jean also devoted her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a committed and involved member of The Church of Christ for many wonderful years and was active in the church until her last. She always enjoyed the support, comfort, and encouragement from weekly visits from church members for communion or just a visit. She also enjoyed to read her Bible and listen to hymns and her favorite songs from the church. Jean was also an active member in The Pink Ladies of Warner Robins for several years. She enjoyed gardening and everything colorful and sparkly.

 

Jean Evans Carter James is survived by her children: Danny (Nancy) Carter, and Tommy (Rose) Carter; step children: Edward James (Sandy); Rebecca King (Richard); and Jonathan James (Bambie); grandchildren: Brian (Bethany), Adam (Tabetha), Rachel, and Kari; great grandchildren: Samantha, Logan, Abram, Ryanne, Liam, Mia, Charlotte, Cameron, and Preston; and a host of extended friends and family.
