Obituary of Lawrence Bailey, Jr.

Macon, GA - Lawrence L Bailey, Jr., 94, died after a long illness January 26, 2022 at his home. He was born July 21, 1927, in Knoxville, TN, the son of Lawrence L Bailey, Sr and Mollie (Friar) Bailey. Lawrence graduated from Everett High School and joined the Army for several years and after his service to his country, he attended the University of Tennessee, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He also married the love of his life, Eugenia (Jean) Hawley. Lawrence was an industrial engineer for Dupont Battery Co in Charlotte, NC and Greenville, NC before taking a position of industrial engineer for Allied/Honeywell in Irmo, SC from 1962 to his retirement in 1991. After retiring, Lawrence enjoyed traveling with his wife across Europe and other parts of the world. Lawrence was a founding and active member of McGregor Presbyterian Church, serving on the church session and leading bible studies.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, his sister, Lucille Duncan, and his brother, Wayne Bailey, and several nieces and nephews.

Surviving are his daughters, Sharon Henrich of Tampa, FL and Julia Meredith of Macon, GA and one grandson, Logan Meredith of Macon, GA and nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance is planned for later in the Spring.
