Obituary of Joseph Jefferson Yancey
MACON, GA- Joseph Jefferson Yancey, 88, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 3:00PM in the Mausoleum at Macon Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00 to 3:00PM in the Mausoleum, one hour before the service. Pastor Ed Chambliss will officiate.
Joseph was born July 31, 1933 in Macon, Georgia to the late Charles and Nora Yancey. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Joseph retired as a Lab Technician from Georgia Craft after forty-one years. He was a member of the First Evangelical Church of Macon and attended every morning with the "Mickey Mouse Club" for breakfast at McDonald's on Rocky Creek Road. Joseph enjoyed gardening various types of vegetables and flowers on a regular basis. More than anything, he enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren. Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his brother, Tom Yancey.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 65 years, Larue Yancey; children: Barbara (Judy) Yancey, Fay Fannin, Betsy Post, and "Burch" (Theresa) Burch; sister, Leymon Morris of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and special friend, Ralph Clark.
