Opal Ross

Obituary of Opal Mae Ross

Warner Robins, Georgia - Opal Mae Ross, 95, went home to be with her personal Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 16, 2022, with her beloved family at her bedside. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Parkway Memorial Gardens.

Opal was born on May 30, 1926, in Jemison, Alabama to the late Fannie Rasberry and Crit R. Ray. Opal was the epitome of a true southern lady. She loved everyone and extended grace to both those she cherished as well as to strangers. Through her southern roots, she possessed a passion for cooking for all to enjoy. Opal found great joy in preparing a meal and sitting at the table with those she loved reminiscing on the "good ole times". Opal also loved to shop and she would not pass up a good sale at any of her favorite department stores.

Throughout her life, she had many hobbies but none compared to her traveling. Opal loved to explore new places and found great adventures throughout the years on many cruises. However, out of all her hobbies and accomplishments, none compared to her being "mom". Opal was a loving and devoted mother who went the extra mile to protect her children and bring a smile upon their precious faces. Furthermore, Opal was a devoted Christian who served her Lord and Savior faithfully over the years as a member of Green Acres Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, there awaiting for her anxiously at the gates of heaven with open arms was her devoted husband, Harold Ross, and her beloved eight siblings.

Left to cherish Opal's beautiful memory are her beloved children, Vicki Davis (Steve) and David Ross; grandchildren, Audrey Janssen, Ross Babbitt and Brittany Mann; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Janssen, Ansleigh Janssen, and Reghan Janssen. Opal is also survived by a host of extended family members and countless friends.

The family thanks Opal’s caregiver and friend, Betty Sue Fricker, and the Heart of Georgia Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.

Opal was a breast cancer survivor and the family requests donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers.
