Ken, John, Judy and your families,
On behalf of my family, we send our sincere condolences to each of you after her home-going. Your mother was a dear friend of our father, Pastor Sydney Odom and mother, Cloma Odom of Centerville. The three ministered to many families through Heart of Georgia Hospice for many many years. Then each of our parents were recipients of her compassionate care and love during their prolonged illness and time under hospice care. During those months, each member of our immediate family grew to love Huggin' Hazel and are thankful for her sweet spirit and love for us. She honored God in her life and we rejoice that she now enjoys being in the presence of Jesus Christ.

To the Colson family, may you find peace and comfort in knowing that Mrs Hazel Colson lived her life to the fullest and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!! My mama, Geraine Williams, and I got to know her through Dr Talbert's office. She always had a beautiful smile and warm embrace even if it had been years since our paths crossed. Our love for her will continue on. May God bless and keep you all. Always, Tom and Karen Welsh and Williams Family

Hi, I met Mrs. Hazel at Dr Carter’s office as a 5 yr old. She gave me my first vaccinations. I know what a blessing she was to everyone she came in contact with. When she was caring for my mom as she was dying at home. I remember her holding her hand and telling us sisters” yes I have brought children into this world and taken them out to heaven”
She will always be special to me. I admired her so much. She was just an overall kind and caring person that you just knew was truely an angel, doing what she was called by God to do. Will never forget this beautiful angel.

Hazel and I were introduced when I was 3 months old. The day Jay, Hazel and Judy moved in across the street from us was a lucky day for our family! Thank you, Hazel, for being a second mama to me for almost 7 decades and for giving me strength when I came back down there to take care of mom. Thanks for being a great neighbor and friend and taking care of the whole neighborhood. And thank you for your beautiful smile.

Ken and John I'm sorry to hear about Ms Colson she was like another grandma to me. I remember going over to her house as a child when I would visit my grandparents since it was only 3 houses down. She always treated me like one of her own and was one of the best examples of what a Christian was. I remember how her and Mr Colson were always there for everyone in the neighborhood and that's why her being a nurse and being with Hospice was her calling. She definitely looked after my grandparents and all of Evergreen Street. Me and my family are praying for you and your family.

Hazel was definitely a wonderful, unique lady. I don’t think she ever met a stranger. She made everyone she came into contact with feel loved…including me. She has touched an untold number of lives, leaving us all a little better than she found us.
I’m sure she’s hugging GOD while holdings hands with Jay(she always called him her boyfriend)❤️

Miss Hazel and my mother, Mary Lou Holland, worked together at the hospice for many years. Before my mother passed in 2007 it was Miss Hazel who came to the house to care for her. When she passed Miss Hazel came to the house to make sure she was take care of. She always told me that she loved me...and I felt that every time. She was a very special lady and there will never be another like her.

We first met “Miss Hazel” in 1988 when she interviewed us to see if she wanted to work with us. She had an unending love for her patients and unending work ethic. She probably birthed half of Warner Robins in her early years in the clinic with Doc Talbert and the medical group. Always there to give hugs and support in life and death. She was so wonderful she was chosen to carry the Olympic Torch through WR in 1996 when the Olympics came to GA. She was a blessing to all who came in contact with her. In the last few years of her life she would call me almost monthly to check on me and my kids. The world is a little dimmer without her but I know heaven is ablaze and she is finally with her Lord. Our prayers are with the family at this sad time.

A beautiful lady who brought love to everyone and everything she touched. So glad she let us share in her life -- she had a never-flagging optimism in all things, strong beliefs in the simple and enduring truths, and an iron faith in a loving and giving God. With deep love, we'll miss her dearly. Brian and Pam Clearman
