Obituary of Jimmie Sue Weaver Savage

Jimmie Sue Weaver Savage of Byron, GA, formerly of Dublin, GA, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Peach County Medical Center at age 92.

 

A visitation for Jimmie Sue will be held at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Warner Robins, GA on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  There will be a graveside service on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at Northview Cemetery in Dublin, GA.  Dr. Anita Crump will officiate.

 

Jimmie Sue was born on March 25, 1929 in Lothair, Treutlen County, GA.  The 4th of six siblings, she lost her mother at the young age of 8. She went on to graduate from Dudley High School in 1946 after which she worked at the Woolworth Store in Dublin.  She married Addison Barton Savage on August 17, 1949 at the Dudley United Methodist parsonage and moved to Warner Robins in 1952.  While raising her children she was a devoted wife and mother, a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, an excellent seamstress, and loved caring for children as pre-school assistant at Byron UMC for many years.  She was involved in many activities through the years at the Dudley United Methodist Church, Warner Robins United Methodist Church and later, Byron United Methodist.  Jimmie Sue had great friends and loved her family demonstrating to all how to live a life with meaning, selflessness, kindness, humility and love of the Lord.   We will miss her.

 

Jimmie Sue was preceded in death by her husband of almost 52 years, Addison Barton ‘Add’ Savage; her parents Jim Henry Weaver and Alice Naomi ‘Doshie’ Peacock Weaver; her step-mother Nina Mae Brantley Weaver; her brothers Clyde Jefferson Weaver, James Corris ‘Abner’ Weaver, Gerald J. ‘Snig’ Weaver, sister Mary Weaver Savage, and infant granddaughter Caroline McKenzie Shea.

 

Survivors include her children, Ann Savage (Kevin) Livingston of Dublin, Jane Savage (Ed) Shea  of Peachtree Corners, William W. ‘Bill’ Savage (Demara) of Byron; sister, Betty Weaver Bowen of Byron, sister-in-law Sue Ellington Weaver of Dublin; aunt, Alene Peacock McGowan of Bonaire; Grandchildren, John (Hannah) Livingston, Acworth, GA, Meghan Livingston (Aaron) Lee of Athens, GA; Katie Shea (Graham) Railey of Smyrna, GA, Michael (Mary) Shea of Nashville, TN, Ashley Massey (Josh Lyons) of Flat Rock, NC, and Abbey Savage (Jordan) Pickett of Byron.  Great-grandchildren, Lydia, Laurel, Vivienne, and James Livingston; Graham and Grace Railey; Madeline and Philippa Lee; Josh Jr, Nick, Lucas, and James Lyons; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Lora and William Gilmore, Carol and Larry Pearce, and Mike and Cheryl Chumbley.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dudley United Methodist Church, Byron United Methodist Church, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
