Obituary of MSgt. Kennard "Ken" E. Cloud

Warner Robins, Georgia –MSgt. Kennard “Ken” E. Cloud, 85, USAF, Ret., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, with his loving family by his side. A Memorial Service honoring his life will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be graciously accepted and memorial contributions may be made in honor of Ken to the donor’s favorite charity.

Kennard was born on September 22, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Marguerriette Cressler Cope and the late Everett Cloud. He met and married the love of his life, Joyce Reeve, who was perfectly paired with him to be a military wife and mom. Ken proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan with his wife and three young children. He was a weather technician during his time overseas in Okinawa and Vietnam. After twenty years of faithful service, Ken retired and accepted a position with Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base, where he continued working for another twenty years. In his free time, Ken could be found gathering with his fellow Middle Georgia Miata Club members, and riding with them for many exciting experiences including the Tail of the Dragon at Deal’s Gap and Bristol Motor Speedway, where he was thrilled to drive the track in his Miata. Ken and Joyce enjoyed years of travelling on his motorcycle. They ventured to California, The Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and every place between there and home admiring the spirit and beauty of this great country. He would wake his beautiful wife each morning with, “Time to get up, Joyce. We’re burning daylight!”

Ken was an avid golfer who loved being on the fairway anytime he could, and was a huge Northside Eagles fan, often attending games and always shouting, “GO EAGLES!” Ken spent many hours working in his yard, planting and pruning through the seasons, and with his “green thumb,” always kept everything beautiful and vibrant. He had a great sense of humor and consistently answered “Joe Shmucker Duck” when asked his name, and laughed every single time. Likewise, Ken was a realist. He always believed life was too short to take anything for granted. He worked hard all of his life, and was content “Shucking and Jiving” through this life, as he would often repeat. His last words heard though, were “I love you” to his beloved wife, Joyce, that she will treasure forever. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Greeting Ken at the gates of Heaven were his parents; and his beloved children, Lori Jo Cloud and Matthew Todd Cloud.

Left to cherish the memories they made with Ken are his loving and devoted wife of sixty-one years, Joyce Reeve Cloud; his daughter, Kellie Bowen (Ron McMahon); his grandchildren, James Cloud (Morgan), Matthew Todd Cloud, II, Kaleb McCabe, Patrick Cloud, Meghan McCabe and Mallory Bowen Mann (Phillip); eleven great-grandchildren, including Colton Cloud; and many other extended family members and friends.
