Obituary of Dennis McNeer

Dennis Earl McNeer, Sr., age 79, passed away June 28, 2021. A memorial service will be held at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Taylor Burton-Edwards officiating.Keeping with CDC guidelines, mask are required at the church. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to, Heart of Georgia Hospice, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church.


Dennis was born October 6, 1941 in Kilmichael Mississippi to the late Durward McNeer and Earlyne McNeer. He is also preceded in death by his son, Paul Roberts McNeer. While in high school, he was selected as a delegate to Boys State and later served as a page in the US House of Representatives. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1963 and began to work immediately for the Air Force Audit Agency at Robins Air Force Base. At one point, he was named the best field auditor in the Air Force. Subsequently, he transferred to the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center and completed his career of 34 years in logistics and financial management.

One of Dennis’s favorite pastimes was playing board and card games with his family, a highly competitive group. After retirement, he traveled frequently, most times with his wife, Joan, but sometimes alone. He travelled to five continents and 32 countries including such interesting places as Antarctica, Galapagos Islands, Greenland, and Cuba.


Dennis is survived by his wife of 60 years,  Joan McNeer; son, Dennis Earl (Karen) McNeer, Jr.; grandchildren, Tai McNeer-Whitten, Hunter McNeer, Erin Mitchell,  A.J Riser; great-grandchildren, Drew, Cillian, Xavier, Tripp, Maddox, Axel; brother, Dendy (Pam) McNeer; nephews, Alan, Trent; niece, Shannon and a host of extended family members and many friends.
