Mr. Eddie Ollie, Jr. passed away February 21, 2021. A separate Graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Akron New Cemetery, in Akron, AL.

Mr. Ollie was born January 23, 1943 to the late Eddie Ollie, Sr. and Rebecca Hopson-Wilson in Akron, AL. He is also preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Willie-Nell Johnson Ollie. Eddie served and retired from the United States Air Force after 30 years. During his 30 years of highly distinguished service, Eddie rose to the top enlisted rank by the middle of his career, held the 2nd highest enlisted position in the Air Force for over 5 years, and he received the Airman's Medal for helping save more than 50 people in a single incident. Upon retirement Eddie and his wife continued their global travels moving as a consultant for Boeing to the Middle East for over a decade. During his life, Eddie lived across the U.S. and in 6 countries in total while traveling to over 20.

Eddie loved the Lord and was a devoted spirit-filled Christian and fearless pastor. Eddie, his wife Willie-Nell, and son all gave their lives to Jesus in 1975 and never looked back. Pastor Eddie as he eventually became known to some, lived a life of humility and without fear as he and his wife served the lord in the capacities of disciples, leader of prison ministries, missionaries who led outreach efforts in foreign countries, pastor to a church in the Middle East, advocates for Jesus in street ministry, etc.. (and on a personal note, he didn’t flinch in financing his son through the most expensive college in the US!) While he had limited opportunities as a child, Eddie loved to learn.  He didn’t earn his GED until he was in his 20s but he went on to earn his Associates and Bachelor’s degrees and was a lifelong learner completing a curriculum of classes last year as a pre-requisite to the ordainment he earned in the Church of God of Prophesy.

Eddie was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to hundreds all of whom have only the most positive things to say about a man who never spoke ill of anyone, was always willing to lend an ear or give a dollar to friends or strangers and approached life with a hopeful and positive spirit every day.

He is survived by his son, Russell (Leslie) Ollie, Sr; Sister, Lartha Ree Dunbar (Charles) Lithonia, GA; Brother, Daniel Evans of Tuscaloosa , AL; Brother, Johnny Jackson Jr. (Annie Pearl) Brockton, MA; Brother, Alphonso Gates, Brockton, MA.; Sister, Shirley Ann Carter (Albert-deceased), Columbus Ga; Sister, Louthena Jean Croxton (Mack-deceased); Sister, Sharon Gertrude Smith (Paul) Moundville, AL; Brother, Larry Wilson of Brockton MA.; Brother, Vincent Wilson; Sister, Rhonda Fran O’Hara (Geoffrey) Dorchester; one grandson; Russell Ollie Jr., remaining members of the Payne family that befriended him from early youth, extended family members as well as a countless number of friends around the world.
