Obituary of Bertha Irene Alford

Bertha Irene Alford, age 91 passed away February 13, 2021. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Parkway Cemetery with Pastor Marty Dillon officiating. Friends may greet family Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.

Irene was born on October 2, 1929 to the late Joseph Lyman and Mae Sellers Carruthers. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Carruthers and a great-granddaughter. Bertha was a care giver to her family. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and the Lord. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 76 years, Julius Oscar Alford; children, James Oscar Alford (Sandy), Barbara Ann Alford, Terry Arnold Alford (Debbie); 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and extended family members as well as a countless amount of friends.
