Betty was a good friend to me for so many years I can’t count. We had so much fun and so many long talks. I know she is at peace and not in pain any longer, but she is so very missed. Thanks for all the years you loved me and know Iwill love you til we meet again.

Betty (known to me as Aunt Betty) was instrumental in forming many cherished memories of my childhood as a three to five year-old growing up in the small green one-room house that sat beside the home of Granddaddy and Grandma Breland on Industrial Home Road in Macon, Georgia. After we moved from the small house, we returned several times to live with them either while granddaddy was away on a job, or while William was building a new house. As a teenager then, Betty, as well as Aunt Mildred, was assigned the task of babysitting her eldest brothers, William’s, two girls, Brenda and Faye. Although it was not a fairytale household, it was anchored by two loving devoted aunts, and a loving grandmother. Long-gone is that house, but not the fond memories. Today I light a candle to my loving Aunt Betty, and say see you soon.
