Obituary of John Worthington Benson
Warner Robins, Ga – John Worthington Benson, 86, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 11:00AM in Heritage Memorial Funeral Homes Chapel. A visitation will follow the service in the chapel. Burial will take place in Parkway Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 for family only.
John W. Benson was born on July 1, 1933 in Washington D.C. to the late Glen and Ida Benson. When John was young, he had to drop out of school around his 9th grade year to work and help support his mom and siblings. John learned to work on automobiles at the age of 15 and never looked back. He retired as an auto mechanic after 52 years and from Eddie Wiggins Ford. John had a true passion for Ford automobiles or anything to do with Ford. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. John took a class on electronics and in his spare time, you could find him working on computers, clocks or even making little gadgets. John was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his two daughters, Lisa (Barry) Shaffer of Tyrone, PA and Lori (Mark) Howard of Macon, GA; grandchildren. Jessica (Billy Miller) Daniel, Joshua (Bridgett) Daniel, and Jared (Bree) Howard; great grandchildren, Laci, Christian, Natalee, Alayna, Aden, and Zoey; brother, Chester (Lois) Benson; sister, Joyce Taylor and several nieces and nephews.
