Obituary of Col. Charles L. Stafford

Warner Robins,GA: Col. Charles L. Stafford, USAF Ret, passed away Friday, September 19, 2003 at home after an extended illness. Services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, September 23rd in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Monday , September 22nd at the funeral home. Col. Stafford was born in Covington,KY to the late Charles F. and Mabel Stone Stafford. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1939. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Warner Robins, a 32 Degree Mason Emeritus, member of the Scottish Rite, board member of the Houston County Association for Exceptional Citizens, Inc. and a successful local businessman. Involvement in local civilian and military organizations included, Lions Club, VFW, Daedalians, Military Order of World Wars, and the Air Force Association. During his 30 years on active duty he attended the Air War College, became a master aviator with over 6000 flying hours and 2 Distinguised Flying Crosses. He was a veteran of W.W.II, Korea and Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne ?Bonnie? Stafford of Warner Robins, 4 daughters, Elizabeth Lynn Hammack of Prescott, AZ, Charlene Jones of Dayton, OH, Pamela Stafford of Warner Robins and Jane Lester of Marietta, GA, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Also surviving is, Dorothy Brauntz, a sister from CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Warner Robins or the American Cancer Society. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
